Description: This Conference will be a full day Family Friendly event hosting: Keynote Speaker Kevin Hines (who survived jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge at the age of 19); a welcome provided by Mayor Carney; IMAGES, a participatory Art Exhibition and Contest; a Mental Health Panel; wellness activities; and much much more!
Featuring Keynote Speaker Kevin Hines who is a mental health advocate, award-winning global speaker, and bestselling author who reaches audiences with his story of an unlikely survival and his strong will to live. Two years after he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder (at 19 years of age); he attempted to take his life by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge. He is one of only thirty-four to survive the fall, and the only one to regain full physical mobility. He is the only Golden Gate Bridge jump survivor who is actively spreading the message of living mentally healthy. Kevin’s story is a remarkable testament to the strength of the human spirit and a reminder for us to love the life we have.
IMAGES Artistic Expression Exhibition and Contest
The theme, “Images” was chosen as a way for artists to openly express their inner-dialogue. The “Images” of those who have struggled or are struggling will connect the community with real people who understand that there are many aspects to mental illness and suicide. We hope to use artistic expression as a gateway to communication and healing. Contact: Susie Reece – Garland County Suicide Prevention Coalition (501) 249-9758 or reecesusie@ymail.com
